Gramonnati Trust together with Indian Army and in consultation with Mission Samriddhi organized a second annual workshop for Sarpanches from Poonch and Rajouri (J&K). The training is a part of the Sadbhavana Program initiated by the Indian Army in 2019 which aims to bring focus on Good Governance and Rural Development in J&K.
This year’s program lasted from 18th January to 28th January 2020, and was attended by 17 Gram Panchayat Leaders. The focus of the workshop was on the use of capacity building & Services delivery approaches, training materials and methodologies, handholding support techniques, and information and communication technologies (ICT) in Poonch and Rajouri.
The program included visiting Eraviperoor – an ISO 9000 certified model Gram Panchayat, “Unmukt” Design Thinking session, visiting a model farm of Gratitude Farms Private limited, workshop on Teesri Sarkar (Panchayati Raj at grass-root level), and meeting with Hon’ble Lt Gov Dr Kiran Bedi.
During the program the Sarpanches had opportunity to:
- Learn about the best practices in rural governance from successful grass-root leaders and rural development experts (includes visiting model villages).
- Learn about rural innovation, entrepreneurship and simple-to-use technologies that can be deployed in their own villages.
- Get a basic framework to initiate holistic transformation plans for their villages to be model villages in the next 18-24 months.
This workshop was a part of the Sadbhavana Program for J&K. It is expected that the training of the rural youth and leaders will start soon in the Poonch and Rajouri District. As such it will be accompanied by other training institute and policy-related activities. These activities will be coordinated by Gramonnati Trust in close co-operation with the leading technical training institutes ensuring the successful phase-out of Good governance and Entrepreneurs ship development in Rural J&K.
